Cloud to Edge Computing Continuum

Cloud Computing has transformed and even revolutionized industries by offering on-demand computing services and IT resources over the internet, alleviating self-management and self-maintenance burden for individuals and businesses. The current frontier of this paradigm is “Edge Computing”, i.e., pushing data processing and storage close to—or even directly on—the data-producing devices of end-users and application environments, to facilitate the operation of latency- or privacy-sensitive applications and to avoid network uplink costs. European R&D efforts are leading the way towards the evolution of this paradigm into an intelligent Cloud-to-Edge “Continuum”, representing the seamless integration of infrastructures and technologies that spans a data value chain from device to Cloud and in-between for sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, utilities and agriculture.

Intracom Telecom is uniquely positioned, with its proven expertise and combined know-how in networking, Cloud and data-driven technologies, as well as with its innovative Edge Platform research prototype—π-Edge—that automates the lifecycle management of cloud-native (Kubernetes-based) Edge services, to support the automation of network-aware deployment and operation of cloud-native services and applications over the Cloud-to-Edge continuum. Furthermore, Intracom Telecom is leading the implementation and integration of mechanisms for a reliable, resource-efficient and performant continuum in context of 6G research and innovation projects 6G-BRICKS, 6G-INTENSE and SUNRISE-6G. In addition, the company's commercial IPTV & multi-play services platform—fs|CDN—is flexible in supporting Media Delivery Streaming use case scenarios, as representative cases of distributed applications and services over the continuum.

Intracom Telecom is a member of AIOTI and a participant of ETSI ENI and ETSI CIM.
