The company was derived from Intracom, a company that began operating in 1977 with 10 employees in Athens, Greece, manufacturing and assembling telecommunication equipment to address domestic needs. In 2005, Intracom was transformed into a holding company and the telecommunications business unit became a company under the name Intracom Telecom.

During its nearly five decades of history, the company has successfully participated in major ICT projects worldwide and has received awards and distinctions for its technologies and work environment. Peania (Athens)

INTRACOM TELECOM's headquarters are located in Peania, Attica, roughly 20 kilometers (12 miles) from Athens centre, covering a total area of more than 50,000 square metres. The facilities comprise several blocks of buildings and house the company's headquarters, telecommunications R&D laboratories, personnel offices, central storehouse, production lines, and main technical support centre.

Patras (North West Peloponnese, Soutwest Greece)

INTRACOM TELECOM's facilities in Patras (Southwest Greece) house the offices of Telecommunications Software Development, Terminal Equipment Design, Development Programmes, and Support Services divisions.

Along with advanced mobile and fixed-line telephone software development, INTRACOM TELECOM's branch in Patras is engaged in VLSI microchip design, digital signal processing, and Internet and wireless Internet technology development. The branch has developed close ties with the University of Patras to conduct joint research and development programmes.

Thessaloniki (North Greece)

INTRACOM TELECOM's facilities in Thessaloniki house the offices of the Technical Support and AXE Software Development departments.

The Technical Support department offers a helpdesk, technical support, maintenance, repair, and consulting services to INTRACOM TELECOM's customers in Northern Greece.

The AXE S/W Development department, in cooperation with the Swedish company Ericsson, is engaged in near-shore telecommunications software development for the subscriber stage of the Ericsson AXE-10 Digital Exchanges.

Production facilities

INTRACOM TELECOM is strategically positioned in the European Market as a high performance, flexible volume, and low-cost electronics manufacturer.

INTRACOM TELECOM's manufacturing capabilities cover the entire spectrum of mass production operations: PCB assembly, wiring and cabling, mechanical assembly, testing (PCB continuity, In-Circuit, PBA functional, final product functional), final assembly, and environmental testing (thermal cycling, vibration).

Existing production lines have been designed for optimum product flow. The total available space is roughly 10,000 m2. Facilities are spread among four production plants.

The manufacturing flow is designed with critical control points, where the product and process is monitored and tested with computer assisted techniques for specification compliance and the reduction of rejections to PPM levels.

The Industrial Engineering department has acquired considerable expertise in achieving high quality results with minimum cost by effectively designing and selecting production techniques, product flow, and the transportation of the product on the shop floor.

1977
INTRACOM TELECOM building

INTRACOM TELECOM derives from the former "INTRACOM S.A. HELLENIC TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS INDUSTRY", established in 1977. In December 2005 INTRACOM S.A. was transformed to a holding company and three new subsidiaries were established. The telecommunications solutions sector becomes a company under the title INTRACOM TELECOM

1977-1982

INTRACOM, starting its operations in a small building in Argiroupoli, a suburb of Athens, designs and develops products and systems for specialised telecommunications applications.

1983-1985
INTRACOM TELECOM old facilites

INTRACOM transfers its head offices to Peania, a town near Athens, strategically investing in the development of a high-tech infrastructure for the research, development, and manufacturing of state-of-the-art telecommunications products. At the same time, it intensifies its efforts to participate in the digitalisation of Greece's national telecommunications network.

1986

INTRACOM qualifies to participate in the upgrading of Greece's national telecommunications network, immediately after the government's decision that Greece will adopt two types of digital network switching technology. For this purpose, INTRACOM collaborates with Ericsson, the Swedish telecommunications manufacturer. Most of the deployed systems are developed and manufactured in Greece by Greek engineers.

2004

INTRACOM undergoes major organisational restructuring and initiates a new development and business strategy. The company refocuses on the provision of integrated solutions and services in the broader geographic regions of Central and Southeast Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa, which together constitute one of the fastest growing emerging markets worldwide. INTRACOM addresses customers in the fields of telecommunications, government, banking and enterprise, and defence.

2005-2006

INTRACOM, aligned with its new strategy to develop a more flexible and effective organisational structure, transforms to a holdings company (under the title "INTRACOM HOLDINGS") by establishing three new subsidiaries under its control. The telecommunications solutions sector becomes a company under the title INTRACOM TELECOM

In June 2006, JSC SITRONICS, the technology arm of JSFC SISTEMA, acquires a 51% stake in INTRACOM TELECOM.

2012-2015

In April 2012, JSC SITRONICS transfers to RYDRA TRADING COMPANY 3% of INTRACOM TELECOM shares, so that the percentage of JSC SITRONICS in INTRACOM TELECOM becomes 48%.

In September 2014, RYDRA TRADING COMPANY transfers 3% of INTRACOM TELECOM shares to KENNEDEV LIMITED.

In December 2014 JSC SITRONICS and INTRACOM HOLDINGS transfer 48% and 49% of INTRACOM TELECOM shares respectively, to INTRACOM MIDDLE EAST FZE.

In January 2015 KENNEDEV LIMITED transfers 3% of INTRACOM TELECOM shares to INTRACOM MIDDLE EAST FZE, which becomes the sole shareholder of INTRACOM TELECOM.

2016 - 2018

The company partners with EOLO and supports them accomplish their vision to be the first provider in Italy for Ultra-Broadband Internet connectivity to rural residential subscribers.

It signed a strategic partnership with Furukawa Electric LatAm S.A. (Brazil), a global corporation with diversified activities and member of the Japan-based Furukawa Electric Group.

Intracom Telecom started its operations in Spain reflecting company's vision to participate as a key international player in the modernization process of Mediterranean economies.

2019 - 2022

Intracom Telecom announced the opening of its subsidiary in Italy, true to its commitment and business planning to continue providing advanced technology in the Mediterranean area.

During this period the Company introduced its largest to-date wireless MW & mmWave solutions portfolio expansion, undertook major project expansions worlwide and suspended its business in Russia since the beginning of the EU sanctions.
