SPRINTER

Project Overview

Low-coSt and energy-efficient hybrid Photonic integrated circuits for fibeR-optic, free-space optIcal and mmWave commuNication systems supporting Time critical networking in industrial EnviRonments.
SPRINTER is an Innovation Action project in Horizon Europe that will rely on well-proven photonic integration technologies to develop a complete solution tailored to the diverse needs of industrial networks underpinning the way towards the 4th Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0). Considering the ultra-dynamic nature of the industrial networks, SPRINTER will provide a set of groundbreaking photonics-enabled transceivers supporting wireless connectivity using free-space optical and mmWave channels. Moreover, the project will develop a unified network platform, providing the required methods and tools to support time-deterministic operation, and enable real-time communication with guaranteed service quality. SPRINTER consortium consists of 5 academic/research organizations, 2 SMEs and 5 large companies.

Intracom Telecom Participation

Intracom Telecom will contribute with a mmWave solution based on the company's E-band product line, that will be adapted to interface with novel photonics-enabled mmWave transceivers developed in the project and demonstrated in a real industrial environment.(UltraLink™-GX80)
