The Microelectronics Lab designs the integrated circuits that form the "heart" of the company's products. Consisting of engineers with a high degree of specialization and experience and equipped with the latest hardware and software tools, theis laboratory is in a position not only to support all the current product development, but also to introduce the innovation necessary to differentiate these products in the market. The Lab designs FPGAs on both Altera and Xilinx in technologies currently down to 20 nm and can deliver ASICs when quantities ramp up.

The laboratory is exploiting state-of-the-art FPGA technologies integrating soft processors, memories, DSP blocks, multi-gigabit transceivers, standard or custom peripherals with ultra low power FPGA fabric, in order to address the demanding requirements of contemporary telecom systems, along with ever shrinking time-to-market.

Main area of lab expertise is Software-Defined Radios for Point-to-Point and Point-to-Multipoint, wireless backhaul systems. Integrating strong DSP algorithmic know-how with solid expertise in efficient implementation on FPGAs, the Lab delivers the processing capacity required by the new generation of Intracom Telecom's products targeting 4G mobile networks, while monitoring the evolution to 5G. Latest innovations originating from the lab include 4096 QAM modulation and patent-pending LDPC techniques.
