TETRA Case Study - OTE
OTE (Hellenic Telecommunications Organisation) was the first telecom operator to provide TETRA services in Greece. The commercial name of the system is "OTElink" and its installation began in 2000. The system consists of a central Switching Centre, an Operating and Maintenance Centre, 80 Transceiver Base Stations located near Athens, Thessaloniki, Patras, the island region of Crete, and Volos, and four Transceiver Base stations located at Athens International Airport (AIA). For the indoor radio coverage of large customers (AIA, ATTIKO METRO, ATTIKI ODOS), bi-directional amplifiers, internal antennas and several kilometres of RF coaxial cable have been installed in the area. The network base stations use a frequency range between 410-430MHz with an output power level of 25W. Five thousands mobile and hand portable radios have been programmed and put into operation to date. The system features extension capabilities to expand its coverage to other major urban centres and the interconnecting Greece's national road network.
